Our Freedom Ranger chicks arrive to the farm as day old peeps. They are kept sheltered in brooders until they are ready to be outside. Then the chickens are raised in large outdoor pens, which are moved to fresh grass daily. The chickens eat primarily feed that we mix ourselves here on the farm. They also supplement their diet with bugs and grass. We raise only the Freedom Ranger breed because of their higher levels of yellow omega-3 fat and lower levels of saturated fat than other breeds that grow faster.
Since we believe that raising chickens in a pasture is the best way to raise the healthiest and most delicious product possible, they are raised only in the spring and summer. They are available from mid-summer until we have sold out.
If you are interested in purchasing our pastured poultry simply go to our online store. We often have schedule pick up days, but if these do not work for you, just leave a note in the comments about what days work for you to pick up and we will coordinate a time.
Our poultry is butchered at a local state inspected facility. The chickens are sold whole and frozen, and range from 3-6 pounds each. They are $4.50 per pound.
